About Austin Judo Club
Our group is taught by Rick Cockerham and Henry Bruns. Experienced teachers who bring decades of expertise to our training program. Additionally, Zdenek Matl, Sensei 9th Dan in Judo and 9th Dan in Ju-Jitsu, serves as an advisor and occasional teacher. With a lifetime of experience in classical Judo, Mr. Matl offers insights and techniques focused on safety, simplicity, low power, and effectiveness—true to the spirit of Judo.

Classes & Schedule

Monday & Wednesday 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Teaching class for all levels (Open to drop-ins). This class focuses on slow, precise execution of techniques, ensuring that every movement is performed correctly and effectively.

Monday & Wednesday 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM: Practice & Cardio. In this session, we play dynamic, engaging games designed to teach specific aspects of the fight while improving physical mastery. Each game is structured to challenge your coordination, balance, and reaction time. It's a high-energy cardio workout that reinforces what you learned in the first hour—turning skill-building into a fun and competitive experience.
The cost is $80 per month for twice a week.
Or $15 drop-in/class.
